My Talk with Strata Decision Technology

I had the good fortune of meeting the CEO of Strata Decision Technology, Dan Michelson, at the last HIMSS conference.  He attended one of my talks and asked if I might spend some time sharing with his team some of the concepts we discussed.  Strata Decision Technology has been a rising star in the field of healthcare financial management, so I was very happy to be able to meet a few members of his awesome team.

We managed to get some time on the schedule this month, and it was a really great conversation.  Companies like Strata are in a very interesting position in terms of health industry transformation — they not only provide the back-office software for core financial processes, but those same processes are driving the firm to incorporate broader data and analytics strategies in order to answer some of the use cases their customers increasingly care about.  A lot of my talk focused on the realities of “big data” in health care — that our historical approaches of thinking about the field of data management are evolving to accommodate the sheer volume and variety of data we need.  I’m looking forward to seeing the innovations that emerge as companies do this.  Strata posted a nice summary of my visit on their blog, and I’ve placed a copy of my slides here.  Keep an eye on Strata.
